Ex-Troy hoops star Rackley dies at 71 Luther Rackley, a standout basketball player for Troy High who played at Xavier and in the NBA, died Nov. 19 in Harlem. He was 71. Rackley, who helped Troy go undefeated in the 1964-65 season, played five seasons in the NBA, including with the Knicks. He averaged 6.0 points per game in 221 games, and averaged 7.3 points per game with Memphis of the ABA in 1972-73 in 57 games.
