Middletown The Troy football team found itself in a situation Saturday night it could conceive possible — fighting to continue its season against Section IX champion Newburgh Free Academy late in the fourth quarter. A week earlier, the Flying Horses dug deep to rally past New Rochelle. Troy simply did not envision the same scenario occurring against the Goldbacks, a team that entered the game with two losses and a program the Flying Horses handled easily in the 2016 state quarterfinals. Trailing by a point, Troy drove deep into NFA territory and used the aggressive nature exhibited all evening by the Goldbacks' defense against them.
